If you’ve never used a homemade knit dishcloth for cleaning up in the kitchen, you are missing out. These basic knit dishclothes are very durable and they clean really efficiently. The good news is they are so easy to make, even for a beginner knitter and cotton yarn is inexpensive. Today I’m going to show you how to make Grandma’s Favorite Knit Dishcloth.
Good question 🙂 This is a basic knitting pattern that’s been around for ages and it’s just known as Grandma’s Favorite Knit Dishcloth.
I think it’s important to keep these patterns shared and alive, passing them down to our friends and children.
I love this pattern because it’s so easy, it’s the kind of knitting I like best which is no think meditative knitting. The pattern is so simple my 9 year old daughter easily memorized it and has made several herself.
Grandma’s Favorite Knit Dishclothes make wonderful homemade gifts. The yarn is fairly inexpensive and easy to get from local craft store, I think even walmart sells it. It’s on amazon too!

Don’t know how to knit?
Knitting really isn’t that hard, I promise. I learned years ago from a woman at a craft store, when they had a free class. It takes a little getting used to for holding the yarn and needles, but with a little patience and perseverance and some help from a friend or YouTube, you can learn!
I really like Very Pink Knits on YouTube for knitting tutorials, but there are many!
